Alex Hughes, for his winning entry in the U. S. Department of Education’s “I Am What I Learn” video contest. As one of three winners chosen from among 600 entries, Alex will receive a $1,000 prize.

The Southeast High School junior hones his digital media chops at Weaver Academy in downtown Greensboro, where Michael Crenshaw is his instructor. More background is in today’s News & Record.
We hear Spielberg got his start in a similar fashion, only with 8mm film.
