20 years of job creation
Posted by AG under: Economic development; Jobs .

The Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship threw itself a 20th birthday party the other evening. The state’s largest business incubator, housed in part of the historic Revolution Mill off Yanceyville Street, offered an impressive report card for 2006.
Jobs created: 1,301
Payroll for those jobs: $63.9 million
Average wage for those jobs: $49,130.
Total economic impact for The Nussbaum Center in 2006: an estimated $161.8 million. (Figures for 2007 aren’t yet available).
Greensboro and Guilford County collected about $4.5 million in tax revenues from companies housed at The Nussbaum Center and those that have graduated and moved on to other quarters.
Small businesses create most new jobs in the American economy, and always have. Thanks to the Nussbaum Center, fledgling small businesses find the environment a bit more encouraging in Greensboro. And that’s truly worth celebrating.
Happy birthday.
